Brexit Statement for GILCA Customers

The decision by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union, known as Brexit, presents challenges to businesses across both the UK and the wider EU. Whilst in the transition period up until the 31st December 2020, we continue to monitor the situation and potential impact on our operations and will be reviewing our mitigation strategy regularly. The Gilca Brexit team is helping to ensure business continuity to deliver the best support and services for our customers during the transition.

We continue to prepare based on the assumption that there will be no free trade agreement in place between the UK and EU in time for the end of the transition period. Therefore, we remain focused on key areas we have considered to be important; including, but not limited to changes to tariffs, customs borders, exchange rates and regulatory frameworks, as well as any impact on our integrated supply chain. Gilca are operating and preparing at every level of our organization, from customer service, sales, and procurement, to finance, compliance, human resources, and information technology.

  • The establishment of a customer reservation stock process to help secure supply of goods. While we have secured additional storage space to house our increased inventory and customer reservation stocks, please be advised we can no longer guarantee that for each request our manufacturers have enough production capacity for additional demand. We will assess each request on a case by case basis.   • Gilca are continuously monitoring and adjusting our inventory levels in the UK allowing our EU customers time to reflect the new exit date. This monitoring ensures that we can adjust to fluctuations in demand and supply the best we possibly can.
  • We have worked with our logistics partners to identify alternative shipping routes. In case of a no-deal, we want to ensure supply of goods both into the UK and to Europe by having the option to route goods from our UK Gilca base.
